Jean-Vital Joliat is a French-Swiss-Canadian filmmaker based in Montreal. A cinema director and author of documentaries, commercials, music videos, and narrative content, he works at the intersection of documentary and fiction, developing a demanding visual style rooted in human experience.
His short film WATER, a Vimeo Staff Pick, has been screened and awarded internationally. In 2024, he directed his first feature documentary, Roger, My Brother, which received multiple awards and was presented in Switzerland, France, and Quebec, including a screening at the Cinémathèque québécoise de Montréal in 2025. He has also directed various projects selected at the Berlin Commercial in Germany and featured on prominent digital platforms such as Directors Notes and Shots.
He is currently finalizing his second feature documentary and developing a third documentary project.
